The Orpheum Theatre shown above, probably established by S. Morton Cohen’s Imperial Amusement Company, likely predates the five-story Orpheum Theatre that was, by circa October 1929, sold to RKO. That Orpheum Theatre stood on the block now occupied by the Nordstrom retail store.
Portland’s street numbering changed in 1933. In later years, the theatre was owned by Hamrick-Evergreen Theatres.
