Synopsis: [?] [From The Moving Picture World]? Bidding his sweetheart Lizzie a fond farewell and promising to be true to her, fat middle-aged sailor John Tobin goes off on his ship bound for foreign lands. The ship is wrecked and John is cast upon the shores of a cannibal island in the South Seas, the sole survivor from the wreck. He is captured by the king of the tribe, Etumalivo, who decides that he has a nice fat morsel for dinner. Just as he is about to be put into the pot, the king’s daughter catches sight of him and begs his life from her father. The king spares his life, and he becomes the chief’s bodyguard. When a hostile tribe makes war upon the island, Tobin scares the savages away by firing his revolver, which the king regards as magic. As a reward for his services the king tells him to marry the princess. Lizzie, having waited two years for John’s return, marries a retired sea captain and lives very happily with him until his death a few years later. Thinks of her old lover and sets out to find him. She finds a John Tobin, another fat man, in a home for old sailors and marries him under the impression that he is her former lover. John Tobin, number two, does not undeceive her as he does not want to lose a comfortable home. As for John Tobin, number one, he has all he can do to look after his rapidly-increasing family of blackamoors which his wife has presented to him first one, then two, then three at a time. With the constantly-increasing cares of family and of state, he at last forgets all about Lizzie and eventually dies one of the most honored men of the cannibal tribe.
