This DVD edition presents this early Conrad Veidt film in a video transfer prepared from a 35mm restoration print held by the Filmmuseum München, pieced together from an incomplete print and still photographs. Missing intertitles and storyline are reconstructed from German censorship records. What source material remains is of fair to good visual quality, with significant dust, speckling, schmutz, and other print flaws.

The film is accompanied by a music score improvised on piano by Joachim Bärenz.

This remains our recommended North American home video edition of the film.
