This Blu-ray Disc collection updates the 1999 Kino DVD set, The Lumière Brothers’ First Films (1895-1897), with the continuing participation of director Bertrand Tavernier and historian Thierry Frémaux.

Supplemental material includes an introduction by Bertrand Tavernier (2 minutes); audio commentary on the Lumière films by Thierry Frémaux with music by Camille Saint-Saëns; “Lumière, la naissance du cinéma” with Paul Paviot (30 minutes); “Aller au cinéma: Louis Lumière” by Éric Rohmer, with appearances by Henri Langlois and Jean Renoir (66 minutes); “Pierwsky Film” by Josef Piwkowski (10 minutes); “L’Héritage Lumière” with Bertrand Tavernier (8 minutes); “Lumière, au début de pout toujours” with Thierry Frémaux (19 minutes); “Lumière! Le cinéma inventé” with clips from a 2015 event; and a 44-page insert booklet.
